Wits End

Wits End

Wits End is an excellent self-catering resort in the Central Drakensberg of South Africa.

Nature lover’s paradise

The unspoiled property can claim to be a nature lover’s paradise because of its indigenous forests and mountain grasslands—Furthermore,  a wealth of flora and fauna. Guests can also take a stroll along one of our nature trails. These wind through the forests, grasslands and along the dam and river.

Fishing a favorite pastime at Wits End
Fishing is a favourite pastime.

Bird-watching enthusiasts will find an abundance of species along the trails, furthermore, among the chalets where the indigenous gardens are in keeping with our ecologically friendly policy. Additionally, other wildlife thrives on the property, including Wildebeest and various species of buck ( frequent sightings of Grey Duiker, Reed Buck and Bush Buck), Natal otter, water mongoose, civet cat, serval cat,  porcupine and jackal, troops of monkeys and Baboons. Finally, Wits End has also introduced Wildebeest, which although very shy and elusive, offers an exciting experience when viewed on foot.

Other activities

Wits End has two rock swimming pools with a kid’s paddling pool—moreover,  a playground with a trampoline and jungle gym—additionally,  table tennis, darts, and a “chip and putt” green. The “lapa” at the swimming pool has an attached kitchen.  So it is ideal for groups who want to self-cater.

This self-catering resort is a stone’s throw from the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. This park is one of only some 20 sites worldwide to be awarded World Heritage status in 2 categories: Archaeology and Fauna and Flora.

This area is excellent for hiking, swimming in the crystal clear water of mountain streams and discovering unique wildflowers and San rock art.

Furthermore, another famous local attraction is Champagne Sports Resort’s 18-hole Championship golf course. This is approximately 5 minutes drive from Wits End. Additionally, Monks Cowl Country Club’s course is within 5 minutes of the resort for the more laid-back golfer.

One can hardly visit the Drakensberg without enjoying the views from horseback. There are numerous places to horse ride within 2 to 10 minutes of Wits End, where the horses are properly looked after, and the rides are well organised.

Cathkin Booking and Management Services markets two 6-sleeper family chalets with three bedrooms and one bathroom at this resort. These are units 7 and 11.
