Introduction to Peakview Cottage

Peak View Cottage, has magnificent views of the Central Drakensberg of the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. This is a self-catering facility. So, Peak View has the following amenities:
- A carport, which is attached to the main entrance of the cottage;
- An open plan kitchen and lounge with two single beds, a flat-screen TV, DSTV, and a fireplace;
- The main bedroom with a large double bed;
- A terrace with braai facilities and a dining room table;
- Access to a large swimming pool.

Off-site activities
The Champagne/ Cathkin Valley area is one of South Africa’s most important centres for adventure tourism. The following is a list of some of the adventure activities you can pursue in this Valley:
- Firstly, hiking. The Drakensberg has South Africa’s largest concentration of hiking trails. Many of them are in the Champagne Valley and start at the Monks Cowl Camp at the end of the R600;
- Also, mountaineering;
- Abseiling. There are a number of adventure operators in the Valley that offer abseil training;
- Mountain biking and trail running. The Valley has a number of dedicated trails for these pursuits;
- E-biking;
- Scootours;
- Horse riding;
- Zip-lining;
- Hot air ballooning;
- Helicopter flips and so much more…
Other Sports:
- Golf. There are two golf courses in the Valley;
- Bowls. The Nest Hotel is one of the most important centres for bowls in the country;
- There are a number of venues where you can play tennis in the Valley; and
- The Winterton Country Club, has a very active rugby team.
Cultural Pursuits
- San Rock Art Sites. Main Cave, at Giants Castle and Battle Cave at Injisuti are open to the public for guided tours that introduce the rock art of the famous San people;
- Craft centres;
- The Chocolate Factory at Berg Air;
- The Drakensberg Craft Brewery;
- The Cathedral Peak Wine estate; and
- Battlefield tours to sites such as Spionkop.
